Cooling
Tower Rehabilitation
Central air conditioning systems
use water to remove heat from air conditioning equipment. If fresh city
water were used to cool such systems, each large office building would use millions of
gallons of water daily to provide comfort cooling.
Of course, this is not the
case. Instead, water is pumped to a device called a cooling tower -
essentially a huge box where warm water is sprayed against air driven by large fans.
As a small portion of this water evaporates, it cools the remaining water enough to be
reused.
After years of operating in a hostile environment, cooling towers
deteriorate physically and mechanically. As they age, cooling towers suffer
failures of important structural components that can stop an air
conditioning system.
As cooling towers
deteriorate, their ability to
remove heat from water declines dramatically. This deterioration is
reflected in a loss of cooling capacity and higher energy costs for refrigeration
equipment.
Rehabilitating cooling towers
avoids downtime and restores system
efficiency.CSI dispatches trained mechanics and engineers to your site to inspect
cooling tower structural components for wear, corrosion and deterioration.
Our engineering department reviews inspection
information and prepares a report of our findings for you. CSI provides an estimate
of the repair costs itemized according to the priority of the work to be performed.
Our inspections include the physical condition of the cooling tower pan or cold sump, the
head pans or spray system, the interior surfaces and support system, the louvers and air
inlet structures, and other physical components of the cooling tower. We evaluate
the condition of cooling tower fill and distribution materials and drift eliminator
materials. CSI also inspects the condition of makeup devices and sump tower
strainers.
CSI has rebuilt and repaired hundreds of cooling towers over the past ten years.
You can benefit from these years of experience and our commitment to quality workmanship
and materials by calling us for an inspection and evaluation of your cooling tower today!
